The Da Vinci Code Good Or Bad? An Opinion From The Travel Industry

The Da Vinci Code, Good Or Bad? An Opinion From The Travel Industry
By R. Johnson

We are just days from the official release of the film the Da Vinci Code, yet even before it has hit cinemas in Europe the upcoming release has caused concern in Christian circles. Dan Browns novel, which has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide, tells a story of attempts by the Church to suppress the truth of Christs marriage to Mary Magdalene and his fathering of a royal bloodline.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, The Rt Revd Rowan Williams, criticized it in his Easter address: Think of the massive international industry around The Da Vinci Code: it is exciting to think of conspiracies and cover-ups when trust in traditional institutions is low. But here is the problem. We are familiar with the world of cover-up stories; we are on safer ground with their cynicism and worldly wisdom. They are less challenging and dont involve us in confronting difficult realities. And like any kind of cynicism they stop us hearing anything new or surprising.

Last year Westminster Abbey refused to allow the 40 million Hollywood adaptation of the book, starring Tom Hanks and Sir Ian McKellen, to be filmed there. Instead, the diocese of Winchester opened its doors to the producers. So is the films subject matter unsuitable, as Westminster Abbey believes, or it an opportunity for the Christian faith, as the diocese of Winchester believes?

From the travel and tourism industrys point of view, it is an opportunity to bring increased tourism and travel to the UK. From that point of view it may have been a blessing that Westminster declined, as it is already able to draw large crowds. More tourists can now be expected to travel to Winchester. Large numbers of tourists, especially from the United States, are expected to go on spiritual tours to Europe that will include visits to sites used in the film.

Indeed, the English National tourism agency VisitBritain, the Scottish tourist board VisitScotland and the French tourist office, Maison de la France, have partnered with Sony Pictures and its global partner, Eurostar - the high-speed rail service.

They have even created a dedicated new website, www.visitdavincicode.com, featuring in-depth visitor information about Paris, London, and Edinburgh, behind-the-scenes secrets from different locations, key destinations and related attractions and a downloadable The Da Vinci Code movie map. Unfortunately, vacation rentals are not included in the resources that the site provides links to.

The site also offers holiday packages offering consumers the chance to seek the truth and follow in the footsteps of the films characters. But how sincere is this and what should Christians think about it? This authors point of view is practical: sometimes bad publicity is better than no publicity. Millions of people will see the film and many of them will come to Europe to visit locations used in the film. They will enter genuine holy sites and while there perhaps they will put aside the films mixed message and have time to consider the beauty of the sites and think about God.

Whatever your opinion may be, some Roman Catholics have taken a humourous approach and created a fun site for people going on a Da Vinci Code tour. Check out Freebies for The Da Vinci Code Enthusiasts.

We would certainly recommend spending time near each of the sites. There are lots of bed and breakfasts and holiday cottages for rent around Lincoln Cathedral. For Rosslyn Chapel, just south of Edinburgh in Scotland, there are also many cute holiday cottages to rent. Even the north-west of Paris where Chateau de Villette is, there are French holiday villas.

Feel free to re-publish this article as long as you include my resource box! Article by Robert Johnson working as Journalist in Residence at HolidayKeys. HolidayKeys is a great place to book and pay safely for your vacation rental in Europe: http://www.holidaykeys.com

Your Private Jet Here?

Your Private Jet Here?
By J Shipper

It is now possible to charter, rent or lease an aircraft for less than ever before and it has also become easier.

Why charter an aircraft?

Here are some good reasons:

The increased security and hassle of commercial airline boarding.

There are fewer airlines around.

Fewer airlines are flying to fewer cities

Because of economy restraints there are fewer seats for more passengers.

It is now easier to charter, lease or rent a plane because there are more companies entering the aircraft leasing business.

Also, a new generation of small jets is being produced as we speak, the so-called air taxis seating between 4 to 6 passengers for a total airplane cost of as low as 1 million dollars.

These small jets are being produced in a so-called cookie-cutter design, 100 at a time and are also being purchased 100 at a time.

Real Air Taxis will soon be on their way into major cities, says London based AVCEN. Avcen is to bring its innovative Jetpod aircraft design off the drawing board and into proof-of-concept build and flight trials. The Jetpod is a unique, lightweight, Very Quiet Short Take-Off and Landing (VQSTOL), 6-seat, twin-jet powered aircraft. The Jetpod cruises at 350 mph and uses an unbelievable 410 feet of landing space. This is achieved through a combination of horizontal and vertical thrust management as developed by Avcen. No runways are required so you can take off from a private parking lot or your neighbor's driveway. There are similar small jets being manufactured in the US as well.

Aircraft Charter companies provide the following 4 functions in a variety of innovative ways:

Renting (sometimes selling) aircraft for private use, performing aircraft maintenance, providing fuel, and aircraft management.

The best way of finding an aircraft charter company is on line. You can also contact an aircraft charter broker who will sort of act as your airplane travel agent.

They will handle all of your flight arrangements, including price comparisons, they will determine the correct aircraft for your trip, they will locate the correct charter company, make sure insurance is in place, and obtain copies of FAA flight certificates.

There are also aircraft charter auctions available on the Web.

Using a unique online auction, your trip itinerary is instantly sent to a network of pre-approved jet operators who are invited to bid on your trip. This increases competition and ultimately drives the price down. You can view this bidding action live, online. Fleet Membership allows you to buy occupied flight time in your preferred category of business jet in blocks of whatever flight hours you want with guaranteed availability. You enjoy the freedom and convenience of business jet travel without the costs or commitment of aircraft ownership.

One Ways and Empty Leg Flights When a one way aircraft charter flight is booked, many times the aircraft has to return to it's original airport. In a case like this, the plane will be flying empty. This is known as an empty leg. Because the aircraft charter operators like to make money if possible, they offer these empty legs for much less than a typical charter would cost.

Flying in a Private Jet has become a Status Symbol.

One of the perks most valued to CEO's and lawmakers today is to have the use of a Private Jet.This is another reason why the Charter Aircraft business is at present growing at an astonishing rate which will increase even more as the air taxis costing one million dollars or so will enter service.

Arrival in Cuernavaca and Getting to Know My B&B Hostess Marta Elena A True Riches to Rags Story

Arrival in Cuernavaca and Getting to Know My B&B Hostess Marta Elena - A True Riches to Rags Story
By Susanne Pacher

After my arrival in Cuernavaca and the lovely dinner at Vanessa's aunt's place the whole family took me to my temporary home for the next couple of days: Villa San Marcos is a bed and breakfast located in a historic mansion in an area just south of downtown Cuernavaca. The B&B has five beautifully decorated guest bedrooms, all with private bath, and a wonderful totally private garden with tropical plants, flowers and fruit trees. Free Internet access is available as well. The owner, Marta Elena de las Fuentes, greeted me warmly and right away I was invited to join in a small private birthday celebration. After a little while I didn't even feel like a guest, I felt just like a family friend as I was included in the conversation and the festivities. (Marta Elena, an avid and very talented cook, had made this totally amazing mango birthday cake, it was absolutely delicious and would just melt in your mouth). What a great start to my stay in Cuernavaca! During my travels I often run into interesting people, and Marta Elena, as I found out tonight, is one of those. She grew up in a very wealthy family in Torren in northern Mexico and listening to Marta Elenas childhood stories brings to mind images of the glamorous 1950s and 1960s, a time of jet-setting and entertainment among the very wealthy. Even the story surrounding her infancy is very unusual: Marta Elena was adopted and her biological father was actually the nephew of her adoptive father. In her own words, she was one of the luckiest children as her father loved her so much to adopt her. At 7 years of age she finally found out about her adoption through a young friend. Everyone around her knew about it but her. Her mother denied that this adoption story was true, but her father admitted it and explained to her that she was wanted so much that she became part of his family. To illustrate her privileged upbringing, Marta Elena recounts an interesting story set against the backdrop of the Cuban Missile crisis: while she was studying at an upscale boarding school in Paris as a teenager, all the foreign students received phone calls from their parents to return home due to the political insecurity. Marta Elena didn't and decided that the world was going to end, so she figured she might as well go shopping. She had about $10,000 in a bank account and by the time she had finished her shopping spree, which included Christian Dior lingerie, designer shoes and pearls, there were only $500 left. Finally she got the much desired phone call from her parents and told them she was so sad since she was the only girl that didn't receive a concerned phone call from her parents. Her father explained that phone lines had been down and reassured her that politics would improve and asked her what she wanted to do now.

So Marta Elena said she wanted to go to Rome to study Italian. Would he let her? He said yes and sent her to the Opus Dei Residence in Rome. He told her to call him so he would wire her some money upon her arrival in Rome. Of the $500 she had left she had to buy a $250 trunk to carry all the new merchandise she had bought, as a result she only had enough money for a 2nd class train ticket. So she ended up sitting on her trunk for the whole trip from Paris to Rome in a 2nd class train. The irony of her youthful priorities isn't lost on her and she now laughs about this incident. Marta Elena loved Rome and had contact with many young people in Rome, mainly from upper-class families. She met many of her friends at a party at the Brazilian embassy. One of her friends had a boutique and this friend asked her to wear her clothes and translate for potential clients in the languages she knew: Spanish, Italian, French and English. The clothes were her reward for her effort. Marta Elenas father was a highly respected doctor and ran a medical clinic in Torren. She says she had a very sheltered and privileged childhood and grew up in a household of 3 people who had 7 servants. She went to high school in Monterrey at a nun's school. Then as a teenager she was sent to a nun's school in Burbank, California, and completed that school in 2 years. To this day she speaks English amazingly well with barely an accent. Her father gave her many opportunities, among others he sent her to European boarding schools. At 16 years of age she went to Paris to study at a very well-known boarding school called 'l'Assomption. Together with her friends, other girls from well-to-do Mexican families, they would go on different excursions around Paris on weekends and they would also explore neighbouring countries. Of her time in Paris Marta Elena says that she learned a lot, in particular from some of the older teachers, who had come from wealthy families, but had lost it all during the 2nd World War. They taught her that all the wealth you might have doesn't make you. They said It's the culture and your outlook on life who make you what you are. This message has stayed with her her entire life. Her time in Italy made her very self-assured, she became an independent young woman and was able to do and discover many things that had not been possible for her in her sheltered life in Mexico. When she returned from Europe at 19 she felt restricted and suffocated. In Mexico City she went on a blind date, and fell in love with the young man. The two young lovers were married shortly before her 21st birthday. Marta Elena has 3 children from this marriage: her oldest - a daughter, and two sons, all of whom she is very proud of. She says she wanted to be the best mother she could be.

Once the family came, the international travelling stopped, but the family did visit her father's ranch near Torren every summer. When her youngest son started going to school, she started volunteering in a hospital - the so-called ABC Hospital, the American British Cowdry, or as the Mexican's called it: El Hospital Ingls. Every Thursday she volunteered for 9 years between 9 am and 1:30 pm in different functions, including helping out with administrative duties in the operating room. She also took up gardening and cooking and took many classes in both fields and has become a real expert in these endeavours. After her divorce, Marta Elena moved back to her home town Torren as Mexico City had become very dangerous. Her daughter was married in Torren and her older son was going to university there. After her divorce, her daughter moved to Cuernavaca, and requested her mother to move close to her. To be closer to her daughter, Marta Elena gave in and moved to Cuernavaca 2.5 years ago. She purchased the B&B from a previous owner who was an American expatriate. Without any trace of self pity Marta Elena refers to her life as a from riches to rags story. After her fathers death in the mid 1970s her mother managed the finances and many of the familys assets were sold off right around the time of the devaluation of the Mexican peso, leaving the family with barely a fraction of their worth. As a result, Marta Elena, who had never worked in her life, started to go to work at age 60 and has been running her bed and breakfast for about two and a half years now. She is one of the few people in Cuernavaca who run a bed and breakfast without the daily support of a maid or a gardener. As a matter of fact, Marta Elena runs her bed and breakfast with 5 bedrooms and a large tropical garden all by herself, without any regular help from anyone.

The amazing thing that struck me so completely is that Marta Elena, who had been so used to a privileged lifestyle lived only by the upper classes, who had never held a paid job during the first 60 years of her life, has adapted so well to her new role as the owner of this beautiful bed and breakfast, working hard every day from early morning to late at night. Her smile just radiates optimism and she is one of those precious bed and breakfast owners who truly enjoys the company of her guests. Marta Elena managed to turn something that might have derailed another human being into a new challenge and an opportunity. Now she works hard every day, yet she has adapted so well to her new role, it shows in everything that she does. Marta Elena is definitely a unique and interesting individual who knows how to make her guests feel at home and I am looking forward to hearing more of her interesting stories.

Ziplock Bag Ideas for Outdoor Cooking

Zip-lock Bag Ideas for Outdoor Cooking
By Scott Carey

Zip-lock bags are extremely helpful when cooking outdoors. They come in a variety of sizes from 1 pint to 2 gallons. There is no need to buy expensive ones for most uses. You should be able to find off-brands at grocery stores, discount stores, or dollar stores. Here are some ideas and tips for using zip-lock bags to make your outdoor cooking job a little bit easier.

  • Pre-measure ingredients and put in zip-lock bags. For example, if you know you need 2 cups of flour for a recipe, measure those 2 cups into a zip-lock bag at home, label it, and all you have to do at the campsite is dump it in. This works great for rice, pasta, sugar, flour, instant mashed potatoes, powdered drink mix, and almost any other similar ingredient.
  • Pre-measuring and storing in zip-lock bags also works great for seasonings. Measure all the seasonings for a particular dish into a zip-lock bag. You don't have to take all the individual seasoning containers, nor worry about leaving one behind.
  • Put all the zip-lock bags and other ingredients for each meal into a large zip-lock bag (1 or 2 gallon). This keeps everything for the meal in one place. Add copies of the recipes, if needed, to the bag and you are ready to go.
  • Pre-mix ingredients and put in zip-lock bags. Cooking pancakes for breakfast? Mix all the dry ingredients together in a zip-lock bag, label it, then add the liquid ingredients to the bag and mix up when ready to cook. No dishes to wash. No cleanup. Just toss the empty bag in the garbage.
  • Zip-lock bags are perfect for marinating meat before you grill. You can even freeze the meats with the marinade, which allows you to get them ready far in advance.
  • Use zip-lock bags for leftovers and store in cooler. One great idea is to make omelets for the last breakfast with all the saved leftovers (depending on what you have). Just add eggs the zip-lock bags and mix up.
  • Precook rice or pasta at home and store in zip-lock bags. This makes it much easier to cook at the campsite, because all you have to do is heat it up.
  • Precut meat and store in zip-lock bags. You won't have to worry in camp about the messy cleanup needed if you do it at home. If you want to really save time, you can even pre-cook the meats and store in zip-lock bags until you needat camp. Just heat up and you are ready to go.
  • Precut vegetables and store in zip-lock bags. Cooking while camping can be more time consuming, but this tip will save you time by allowing you to do it ahead of time at home.
  • Store snacks in zip-lock bags. Trail-mix, snack mix, pretzels, dried fruit, etc., store great in zip-lock bags. You can even make separate bags for each member of your family or group so there isn't any quibbling over portions.

Liberia Costa Rica: Gateway to the North Pacific Coast and NorthWest National Parks of Costa Rica

Liberia Costa Rica: Gateway to the North Pacific Coast and North-West National Parks of Costa Rica
    By Julia Thurston

Liberia International Airport is growing in popularity as an entry point to Costa Rica, providing a more amenable alternative for the north western region than San Jose is able to offer. The airport is as yet (although redevelopment is on the cards by 2007), reminiscent of a somewhat provincial domestic airport where you must make your own way across the scorching tarmac to the small airport building. Yet dont let this put you off! The benefits include a rapid exit and less time through customs, an instant view of the Costa Rican landscape with volcanoes in the distance and nature all around you. On exiting the airport, there is no trouble negotiating your way through unknown foreign city roads in your unfamiliar rental car, as your only options are a straightforward left or right when you meet the highway.

From Liberia airport you can be at the beach in as little as 20 minutes. Playa del Coco (the closest) is an old fishing village, that provides one of the best locations from which to enjoy a spot of diving or fishing on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. A little further away (about 45 minutes) is the Papagayo Peninsula, renowned for its beauty and the pleasure of having the largest area of all inclusive hotels in Costa Rica. This area is earmarked for a huge investment injection mostly from foreign investors who are seeing big development prospects here. Heading south you will find the famous beach of Tamarindo, just a hour and a half from Liberia. When you compare this to the 4 hour trip from San Jose, you can see the benefits especially for those whose time is short.

Liberia also provides an access point to some of the best Costa Rican National Parks and reserves. Santa Rosa National Park, the last remaining piece of dry forest in the region also contains a Costa Rican historical site, famous for the rebuff of the north american filibuster William Walker who attempted to invade Costa Rica in 1856. The park is also home to the famous Witchs Rock, renowned among surfers all around the world.

Just 45 minutes from Liberia is the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, home to the active volcano Rincon de la Vieja. The park includes several trails that pass by fumaroles and boiling mud pots. You can also reach the crater of this volcano and look down upon the acidic lake while taking the utmost care not to lose your footing!

The city of Liberia itself is a welcome relief for many foreigners from the chaos of San Jose. It bears the mark of a relaxed, provincial town, but it one awaking from its long slumber. The Guanacaste regions growth as a tourist destination has allowed for an increase in employment opportunities in Liberia, the business center for the region. This, along with the several university colleges in the town, has meant that a more vibrant, youthful culture is making itself apparent. This is especially evident in the proliferation of bars with a more modern, western style to add to the flavor of the local nightlife.

Liberia, is a town in the making and one hopes that it will continue in its beneficial growth to aid the local population and to delight visitors to Costa Rica.

The author, Julia Thurston, lives in Liberia and works through Liberia Costa Rica Info where you can find information on hotels, transportation and tours in Liberia, the North West Pacific beaches and the Guanacaste region.

    A Holiday in Rajasthan

    A Holiday in Rajasthan
    By Roozbegh Gazdar

Romancing History A Holiday in Rajasthan

Rajasthan, the name evokes myriad impressions an intricate tapestry of colour, sound and smell. Holidaying in Rajasthan brings one face to face with mammoth contradictions where royal grandeur is easily offset by rustic charm and lavish opulence belies ingenious survival. Geographically too, Rajasthan is a land of contrasts: dense forests give way to an arid landscape and lofty hills separate baking dunes from brimming lakes. And no Rajasthan holiday is complete without an experience of the spirited Rajputs, whose proud and haughty exterior conceals an inner friendliness and warm sense of hospitality.

Rajasthan, meaning the land of the kings, has a history dating back 5000 years. A Rajasthan holiday is the experience of a living tradition. Dotted with well-preserved architectural wonders echoing age-old legends, many of these, especially the ancient havelis are in use even today. Similarly, ancient temples in this mystic land have effortlessly spanned eons of worship by the devout as they resound even today with chanting and ringing of bells.

Holiday in Rajasthan! Follow in the footsteps of the ancient caravans as you travel through this ageless land by a camel safari or step into the shoes of kings, as you ride into palaces sitting atop an elephant. Track the tiger in wild Rajasthan or have a holiday adventure driving a jeep over sand dunes in a hip desert adventure.

    Cultural Rajasthan

Rajasthan is dotted with the reminders of its ancient past, its forts ringing with ballads of the valour and romance of the Rajputs. But the tourist is not a visitor to dead relics showcased in a museum. A Rajasthan holiday is an enthralling ride through the living portals of history.

Bikaner: Located in North Rajasthan, Bikaner is desert country famous for its medieval spirit, its monuments and camels. Junagarh fort, Lalgarh palace, Jain Haveli and Bhandeswari are a feast for the holiday crowd.

Jaipur: Rajasthans pink city offers a holiday with a refreshing blend of the traditional and the modern. Its attractions include the Hawa Mahal, Albert Hall, Jantar Mantar and the forts, Nahargarh, Jaigarh, Amber and Moti Dungri.

Jaisalmer: The magic of the desert is very alive in this legendary town famous for its havelis traditional mansions that are artistic expression with skilled craftsmanship, carvings and paintings. Other attractions include the breathtaking Jaisalmer Fort and the Tazia Towers.

Jodhpur: The ancient Marwar empire in the desert, this military town is also famous for the kingly sport of Polo. It is famous for its monuments including Umaid Bhawan Palace, Mehrangarh fort and Jaswant Thada.

Udaipur: Known for its lakes and palaces, this is the ultimate Rajasthan holiday. Udaipur epitomizes artistic endeavor from brilliant architecture and miniature painting to vibrant performing arts. Tourists are simply dazzled by the City Palace, Lake Palace, Crystal Gallery, Durbar Hall, Bagore-ki-haveli Dharohar, Jag Mandir, and Maharana Pratap Memorial.

    Wild Rajasthan Holidays

Rajasthan is also a haven for some thrilling wildlife holidays, housing as it does some of the best National Parks and Sanctuaries in India.

Camel Festival: Held in January, this festival is dedicated to the Ship of the Desert, and lifeline to rural Rajasthan. Starting with a procession of decorated camels, it soon turns into jubilant festivity. Tourists are mesmerized by contests, acrobatics and dances put up by the well-trained camels.

Zocalo Square Final Destination In Mexico City

Zocalo Square Final Destination In Mexico City
    By Lea Adams

Every year millions of travelers and tourists visit Mexican coasts, riviera maya on one hand and Pacific coast on the other. However, Mexico has other charming sites to explore and one of them is the capital of the Mexican United States as the formal name of Mexico states it. The Federal District of Mexico City apart from colonial architecture that can be admired in the city centre, has also more ancient archeological sites as the ones located near Plaza del Zcalo where azteca archeologial temples as the site known as Templo Mayor discovers the beginnings of the city in front of travelers' eyes. Built at the beginning of the XVIth century during colonial dominion by the Spaniards, the Zocalo Square is the third biggest square in the world and is located on ancient ruins that reveals prehispanic cultures earlier than the Aztecas. Plaza del Zcalo is a place where centuries reunite and the proof resides in the blending between cultures and societies that succeded along the history in today's capital of Mexico. From Templo Mayor, witness of the most ancients ancestors through colonial period after discovering the American continent by the Europeans to Mexican Independence from Spain, this square abunds in history and traditions that worth to be discover by any visitor.

The impressive Palacio Nacional on one side of the square where today resides the Town Hall of Mexico City as well as the National Executive Power of the Mexican administration is worth visit especially when one has the chance to admire Diego Rivera's paintings. But Plaza del Zcalo shelters also one of the two Cathedrals of Mexico City built during three centuries: the Saint Nicholas Cathedral. Indeed, the city distinguish itself by having two cathedrals instead of one -the other is the ancient Cathedral of Virgin Guadeloupe (Catedral de la Virgen de Guadalupe), though the latter being quite ancient is not functional anymore to religious mass and for this reason the Catholic Church has built a new building nearby that has taken over its religious obligations-. Like a curiosity for those travelling by plane to Mexico City, pay attention while the plane aproaches the Benito Jurez Airport that the Mexican flag erected in the Plaza del Zcalo can be seen from the air. That gives visitors some idea of the patriotism level featuring this country. While being in the Zocalo Square if the traveler decides to go to other areas of the capital is best they call a taxi it they don't have a car rented for their stay.

Never venture out on the street to take cab that passes by, always go through a taxi company amongst the serious taxi services existing in Mexico city. The tasty and rich Mexican breakfasts that finish at 12 o'clock are a delightful experience for travelers that want to know more about one of the finest and more complex cuisines in the world. A mixture between maya and azteca roots combined with a colonial touch has created the cocina criolla with incredible dishes that makes this gastronomic experience unforgettable. In front of the Palacio Nacional, that is on the other side of the Zocalo Square, the Majestic hotel , at the upper floor offers the Sunday's Mexican Breakfasts famous among many Mexico City residents as well as other connaisseurs of the cities attractive curiosities. So a perfect combinations of delicious Mexican dishes, a pottery boiled black and aromatic coffee while the Zocalo Square reveals itself in all its splendour.

Visiting Denver? Check Out These Great Restaurants

Visiting Denver? Check Out These Great Restaurants
    By Douglas Hanna

If you're coming to Denver and not familiar with the downtown area, here's information on five great restaurants you might want to check out.

    Elway's
So our Number 7 was a pretty good football player when he was with the Broncos, but surprise! He's also a pretty good restaurateur. The steaks at Elway's are first rate, the side dishes are excellent and the martinis like totally cold.

    Elway's
2500 E. 1st Ave. (Cherry Creek Shopping Center)
    303-399-5353

    Table Six
Table Six just might be the hottest restaurant in Denver as of this writing. It's a relatively small neighborhood restaurant that's just a few minutes from the 16th St. Mall at 609 Corona. Its menu focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients prepared in unusual ways. For example, you can get seafood sausage on white cabbage and broiled chicken, rabbit and Colorado lamb.

    Table Six
    609 Corona St.
    303-831-8800

    Aix
If you're in the mood for contemporary French cuisine, give Aix a try. It's menu mixes the tried and true with the newer, novelle dishes such as pomegranate risotto and mushroom-stuffed quail with cardamom lentils and orange gastrique. Aix also serves a variety of to-die-for game dishes.

    Aix
    719 E. 17th Ave.
    303-831-1296

    Restaurant Kevin Taylor
This is definitely one of Denver's most upscale and luxurious restaurants with a bumptious menu that ranges from bay scallop and squid ink ravioli to desert list that includes Hawaiian pineapple Charlotte. The wine list is 900 wines long.

    Restaurant Kevin Taylor
    1106 24th St.
    303-820-2600

    Vesta Dipping Grill
This very contemporary restaurant sports curvy walls and a curvy bar and sports a menu that serves up a few curves. It's basically a fondue restaurant where you order an entree and then choose three or more sauces from a long list of possibilities for your dipping pleasure. Featured entrees include ginger-seared Ahi tuna, pork tenderloin cubano, achiote-grilled Altantic salmon, madras coconut milk grilled venison and green chile masa gnocchi. If the idea of a customized meal fits you fancy, the Vesta Dipping Grill is your kind of place.

    Vesta Dipping Grill
    1822 Blake St.

    Florida Vacation Rentals By Owner
    By Damian Sofsian

Florida is one of the most sought after vacation destinations in USA. Vacations can be pleasant memories if tourists find good places to stay at. In Florida some of the best places to stay at are privately owned homes. Several owners put up their homes for vacation rentals during peak season. The different kinds of Florida vacation rentals by owners are private homes, villas, condos, apartments, chalets, cabins and retreats. These kinds of private rentals allow you a memorable stay at reasonable prices.

Florida vacation rentals by owners offer you privacy. A lot of attention goes into building private homes and anyone staying in one can reap the benefits. Overcrowding and paper thin walls of busy commercial resorts cannot hold a candle to private homes given out as vacation rentals by owners.

Florida vacation rentals by owners offer tourist value. This is because by renting directly from the property owners several costs can be saved. Costs like taxes, parking, tipping, telephone surcharges, markups on eats and drinks and the like are not incurred when one takes a vacation rental directly from an owner.

Private homes in Florida are generally built on great locations. By taking a Florida vacation rental by owner one can get a great location at no extra charges.

Vacation rentals by owners are generally spacious properties that have abundant space as compared to hotels at the same prices. These rentals are comfortable for large families who need their space. Florida vacation rentals by owners offer amenities like kitchen facilities that can be optimally used.

    Florida: The Underwater Kingdom

    Florida: The Underwater Kingdom
    By Gail Nettles

It's a place of shimmering water, of tropical breezes, of underwater fantasies. It's living rock, and animals that look like plants. It's a statute with its arms raised to they sky, yet still beneath the sea.

Welcome to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in the Florida Keys.

    Kingdoms of the Sea

Pennekamp State Park is mostly under the waves, so the big draw is definitely on the watery side. Being the only living coral reef in the United States, Pennekamp is a mecca for divers from all over the world. And what a reef it is! It's a watery kingdom, with thrones of coral and guardian fish patrolling about.

    Snorkel and Dive Tours

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park offers both snorkel and dive tours from its dive center. The main reef is about four miles offshore, so you are spirited away in a catamaran for your trip (the Spirit of Pennekamp).

Tours run around two hours of actual water time, and by all accounts they are very much worth it.

    Glass Bottom Boats

If you aren't into getting wet but still want to see the reef, how about a glass-bottomed boat tour? You can relax in air-conditioned comfort and discover your own Atlantis.

    What Else?

How about camping, fishing, swimming and canoeing? All this and more can be found at Pennekamp State Park. Come on and visit another world, just beneath the waves.

    Florida Vacation Rental Listings

    Florida Vacation Rental Listings
    By Damian Sofsian

The Internet is an excellent source for Florida vacation rental listings. These listings work both ways- they are useful for property owners and for tourists who want to rent them. Florida vacation rental listings act as a via media between the property owners and tourists.

These listings enable property owners to upload information about their properties for a fee. Any enquiries are routed through to the property owner. Whenever any property is blocked for a specified period of time the listing is updated accordingly. This is done so that if another tourist wants a property that is already taken the listing will show the status and he can move on to other choices. Tourists can search for homes and apartment listings available through private owners, communities and realtors.

Florida vacation listings show categories like rental buildings, individual rentals, realtor rentals, vacation rentals and a facility to edit rental information. Property owners can use the edit rentals link to update information about their property if they make any additions or changes.

Listings also carry enticing photographs of the properties available for vacation rentals. Some property owners provide photographs of cozy interiors too. Often it is these cozy scenes coupled with reasonable rates that bring tourists flocking to vacation rentals.

Florida rental listings are generally arranged classified by destinations. A typical listing could contain links to vacation rentals in Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Saint Augustine, Tampa, Daytona, Sarasota, West Palm Beach, Pensacola, Saint Petersburg, Amelia Island, Fort Meyers and so on.

Florida vacation listings that are run by resourceful people will direct you to the next best alternative if the particular vacation rental that you request is not available. For example if there is no accommodation available in Amelia Island, an efficient listing should be able to direct you to one in Jacksonville. Staying in Jacksonville you would still be able to visit Amelia Island as it would be just a day trip. Suggestions and solutions like this make a vacation rental listing very efficient and as a result very popular too.

    Florida Time Shares

    Florida Time Shares
    By Seth Miller

By definition, timeshares refer to partial ownership of a vacation home or resort, which is only accessible during a set time period. Families buy fractional shares of a vacation property, usually measured in weeks or months, and the ownership is shared with others. A ski resort in the French Alps in the 1960s was the first to employ this concept.

Timeshares are sold as a deeded interest or right-to-use contract. The resort can offer fixed, floating or rotating weeks, with the accommodation choices being more flexible in the latter two ownership types. Exchange networks, Resort Condominiums International (RCI) or Interval International (II) are wonderful options that allow owners to exchange their weeks, making the notion of timeshare vacations more exciting.

Beautiful Florida, unique and diverse, is a must-see for any intrepid traveler. It is definitely a great choice for a holiday, with its warm weather, sunny beaches and theme parks, as ideal for the young as for those looking to retire. Orlando and Miami are popular spots. Disney, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, Starwood, Wyndham and many other classy chains offer timeshares in Florida. Timeshare holidays are synonymous with practical and affordable vacations, strengthening bonds in families, and offering a leisurely time to look forward to every year. The sun-kissed Florida coast has Miami Beach, Daytona Beach, Palm Beach, and Fort Myers. Orlando with its Disney World and Sea World is an equally attractive option. Busch Gardens at Tampa, Gatorland, Indian villages, the Kennedy Space Center, Florida Keys and Ft Lauderdale are also worth seeing.

Timeshare resale is often profitable as the people before you would have borne the marketing and development costs, but is often impossible. Timeshare promotions allow guests to enjoy a discounted vacation, but one has to take the resort tour, a great marketing strategy. Like most things, timeshares have their advantages and disadvantages, and before buying there are lots of factors, other than budget and personal interests, that must be taken into account.

Florida Villa in Springtime IS Florida at its Best

Florida Villa in Springtime IS Florida at its Best
    By John Swan

Temperature at home? Cold! Weather wet ,windy, miserable and generally unpleasant! It has been for weeks. The winter shadows begin to fall away at the airport, the feel good factor kicks in. The holiday begins here.

A restful and enjoyable 767 flight -this time with Delta Airlines, via their excellent hub at Atlanta, Georgia, and onward - to MCO. Brilliant views from the plane...bright sunshine and plenty of snow on the mountains over Labrador and Quebec; the lakeside waters at Toronto still frozen solid; moving south the first signs of a thaw near Cleveland along the southern edge of Lake Erie, announcing the welcoming warmer weather to come further south. The changing and varied scenery of Ohio, Virginia, Georgia an unforgettable sight. The forested southern end of the Appalachian Mountains , the approach into Atlanta with its superb view of high rise downtown.

Central Florida is a mere 50 minute hop by 737 from Atlanta. Orlando International (MCO) is a favourite at this time of year. Busy, bustling, efficient but it is not overcrowded. Baggage reclaim is easy to negotiate, Dollar car hire is hassle free, but most importantly the major roads are high quality, swift, not overloaded with traffic. A big plus is the south exit which brings the Disney Resort areas within 25 minutes via the Central Florida Greeneway (the 417 toll road...its cheap and very quiet even in the daytime...from the airport to the Interstate 4 highway intersection the total cost is $2.50c ! A bargain !)

The villa is located on the Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club gated estate -one of many high class recent developments- just off US 27 north of Haines City. It provides a great base for the Disney Florida Resorts, but for those with other interests it is very centrally placed ..a fine base for exploring central Florida : Kennedy Space Centre to the East , Tampa, St.Pete's, Sarasota to the west. For the shoppers Walmart is right next door for the everyday needs....and there are numerous 'outlets' within easy reach for those hunting for bargains. Famous named goods at extraordinarily reasonable prices attract people into Prime Outlets (was Belz), Premium Outlets, and Buena Vista Outlet, to name but a few. All are alongside the I4 highway.

The weather at this time of year ( February-March) is benign. Its great to wake up to sunshine which mostly lasts the whole day.The temperature is in the 70's and ventures into the low 80's.Its dry. By contrast in the summer it can be oppressively hot and humid, with daily thunderstorms, and later in the year there is the hurricane season.

Getting up and having a dip in the pool each morning is special.Sit outdoors and enjoy reading a good book. Eating out is a real pleasure : inexpensive, with a range of different style eateries on offer close by. AND the portions...GENEROUS, FILLING are just two adjectives that come to mind!!! Try Manny's Chophouse and see what I mean. For the golfer the area is pure magic. It is peak season..many of the players are drawn from abroad, including 'snowbirds' down for the winter from colder northern parts of the US and Canada.

Golf courses to suit all pockets ( $ 107 for 18 holes was the top price we found locally in 2006 : the lowest $20! Amazing value this last figure..18 holes and it included a golf cart too! Plus a delightful rural setting with trees and lakes to negotiate as well as 'livestock'...turtles, racoons, alligators, which were more interested in a place in the sun rather than chasing golfers. They were allowed to keep any balls which landed near them!)

Florida in Springtime IS Florida at its best !!

Florida is a Place For Good - Honest - Fun
    By Tim Burton

There are more than 8 Theme Parks here. They are Disney's

Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, Disney's Animal

Kingdom, Universal Studios, Island of Adventure, Seaworld

and Busch Gardens. In addition, there are the water Parks:

Wet'n'Wild Water Park, Cypress Gardens Adventure Park,

Fantasy of Flight and Discovery Cove. It will take you many

    holidays to cover them all!

Magic Kingdom should be the starting point especially for

younger kids. It has lots for the little ones. It is home to

Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyear, Cinderella and

    Space Mountain.

Disney has a new great ride at Animal Kingdom which is

called Expedition Everest. It takes you through the

    treacherous Himalayas.

From 2005, Bush Gardens in Tampa has an adrenaline-pumping

ride called Sheikra. It is 200ft tall, 70mph, 138ft drop -

ride and is now Florida's tallest roller coaster. The

minimum height requirement for that ride is 54 inches.

Seaworld has 3 new genteel rides for juniors in its

children's play area, including Shamu's express which is a

    killer-whale themed rollercoaster.

Islands of Adventure is part of Universal Studios and has a

number of great rides including the Hulk coaster and the

Spider-man show on Marvel Super-Hero Island, as well as

toddler options on the famous Dr Seuss's patch.

The best place to stay for value for money is a privately

owned rental: Orlando Holiday Homes near Disney. You will have lots

of space and privacy. The great majority of these houses are equipped with

private pools. Some even have lots to do indoors if it

rains, such as games rooms, books and board games. These houses are family homes so you have your own privately owned vacation home. Private condos near Disney have shared pools and are often based in

upscale resorts with everything you could wish for.

Rent a car (or bring your own) at low prices and tour the

area whilst you are there - if you can tear yourself away
    from the Theme Parks!

    Florida Hotels for Sale

    Florida Hotels for Sale
    By Ken Marlborough

If you are interested in buying a hotel in Florida then all that you need to do is look around on the Internet, and a number of sale announcements of Florida hotels will be displayed for you. At any point of time, you are sure to find a number of such announcements lined up. The primary reason for this is perhaps the fact that tourism is a huge industry in Florida and buying and selling property is a fundamental basis of any industry.

Hotels and motels of all kinds and standards can be bought from anywhere between six hundred thousand dollars to about seven million dollars. There are agents deployed for the transaction of all such properties. Those who are interested can find the contact information of these agents online directly.

At present, one can find great deals on not just hotels and motels but also condo conversions. There are also a number of private island resorts that you might find available for sale. Most websites also give you the option of keeping any enquiry made by you completely confidential.

A hotel in Florida is a huge investment as the tourism industry here is always busy and profitable. The prices of real estate here soar continuously and if the hotel is of good repute then the prices go up even higher.

Like in the case of all business transactions, here also one must be extremely cautious while exploring ones options of buying the listed properties that are put up on sale. The increasing numbers of cases of online forgery are a point in case. It will be prudent if you make all the transactions beginning from the basic enquiries till the final deal in the presence of your lawyer. This will protect you from fraudulent agents trying to dupe innocent buyers. A careful research will go a long way in ensuring that you make a profitable deal.

    Florida Holiday Auto Hire Tips

    Florida Holiday Auto Hire Tips
    By Mark Flanighan

My first trip to Florida consisted of buying a UK Fly drive deal. The idea of fly drives being; if you bought a flight you got the hire car thrown in free. On the surface it appeared a fantastic deal.

We arrived at Orlando airport and was transported by bus to the off airport site to pick up our holiday auto. When we eventually arrived at the desk, the amount to secure the car in extras such as insurances seemed excessive. I now realised that the free car was in not anyway free. I had known there would be insurance to pay but did not comprehend it would be this much.

After a great holiday I arrived home to compare my extra charges to normal hire charges and sure enough, there was very little difference between the extra insurance charges as a fly drive against had had I booked and paid for the hire car separately.

I vowed I would never buy a fly drive again and source my own car separately to ensure I could take advantage of any deals going, for when I would return to the States. This is exactly what I did the second time. We did not pay any more than taking a fly drive; we also got the car we wanted at the price we could afford.

There was one similarity though, in that every time you Visit Florida the person at the car hire desk will try to sell you an upgrade. Normally they offer 2 upgrades for the price of 1. We had ordered the right sized car for our party so we did nit take him up on his offer.

By the third trip, this time to Miami it was time to put everything I had learned from this holiday autos game, to get the best deal possible. We ordered our car online as usual, the difference being, we ordered the smallest and cheapest car available including insurance. When we arrived in Miami we go th customary trade up sales talk, but this time we said we may consider it if the price was right. What car would we like? was the question. We replied, we would consider a convertible. The salesman came back with the price of 360 dollars plus tax. We said, no if it had been around 100 dollars, we would have considered it. The salesman makes a phone call and sure enough we got a Mitsubishi Spyder for only 100 bucks more than the cheapest basic car, including insurance.

I have now come to the conclusion that the hire car companies, especially in the holiday areas of the USA have an abundance of autos standing in storage, If the salesman can get an extra 100 dollars more, then thats 100 dollars on their bottom line for a car thats standing around not being used.

On our final trip to Florida, this time to Tampa airport, we decided to do this again, but this time it worked even better. We arrived late into Tampa airport to find ourselves standing in a long queue to pick up our car. 45 minutes later we eventually get to the hire car desk. He could tell by our faces we were tired and totally sick of the wait. He told us he had given us a free upgrade, because of the wait. I was so tired I would have accepted a motorbike so we took the keys and left. In the car park stood a Dodge Magnum, at least 3 upgrades free!!

I am not expecting this to happen again, but it does show the flexibility these car rental firms have. I cant wait for the next time!

Now Is The Best Time to Take a Big Florida Vacation

Now Is The Best Time to Take a Big Florida Vacation
    By Nathalie Fiset

Florida's tourism has suffered a great decrease as a vacation choice in the past years mainly because of climate and political misfortunes. The fact of the matter is that a vacation in Orlando with the whole family remains a sure way of having a fun-packed vacation that will please everyone. Actually, you can turn the situation in your advantage by planning a big Florida vacation now. Therefore, you will benefit from shorter waiting lines and still get to see the world famous family entertainment that will make your Florida vacation a winning deal for all.

Allow me to share the top ten tips that I find most useful when planning a big Florida

    Vacation.

1)Plan in advance. Just by looking at the brochures, you are building expectations among your family members and they are already having fun. Making a small book with pictures (of their favorite characters) taken from traveling brochures will only take you a couple of minutes yet it will give your children (and yourself)

the opportunity to dream about their future vacation.

2)Upon your arrival, if you rent a car, place a distinctive ribbon on your antenna. This little trick will prove of great value during your big Florida vacation when you are looking for your car in the huge parking lot at the end of your day in a theme park. I also recommend that you mark down the parking row where your car is. After, a couple of days of visiting, you will appreciate not having to look around or try to remember if you are parked on Mickey7 or Donald 13!

3)Once you have unpacked and taken a refreshing leak in your private pool, pack your whole family in the car and get to the nearest shopping center. The first stop will be at the nearest Wall Mart or souvenir shops. There, you will find for at least half the price, the same items sold in the parks and you will have saved big bucks. This way, your children will either not bother you for those expensive items sold in the park or understand when you answer they already have something. Next, you want to stop at a grocery store and stock up on healthy foods and bottled water. This way again, you will not spend your week eating unhealthy and very expensive food in the parks.

4)In your Florida vacation planning, do not get carried away and add too much to your schedule. Orlando offers so much family vacation fun that it is impossible to see everything in one vacation. You will just have to come back and take another big Florida vacation! I highly recommend that you plan one day of rest in the middle of your vacation, doing almost nothing or very little that day- a dinner show, miniature golf, shopping or just a quiet day at the beach. This way, your whole family will be ready and anxious to continue their visits of the theme parks and enjoy the rest of their big Florida vacation.

5)Upon visiting parks, use their Fastpass services or equivalent. You will save tons of precious time this way.

6)When visiting theme parks, start at the back of the park, the lines are usually much shorter . There is almost no wait in the lines for very small children rides after 4:00 p.m. because most parents have ran out of the park with their tired and crying children. You then just have to get there and enjoy the rides. I did the ride Small World four times in a row upon visiting Disney World with my daughter one time because there was absolutely no waiting. Pure bliss!

7)Make your restaurant and shows bookings in advance so you don't have to wait upon your arrival. I highly recommend you book one of the Dine with the Characters at Disney World. This way, your children get to see and touch their favorite characters and you get the greatest souvenir pictures.

8)Resist the temptation to stop at all those booths promising you cheap or free tickets. These are all Timesharing sales tactics and you might end-up wasting a whole day of being pressure-sold. Your time is way more valuable than this.

9)Enjoy yourself and allow yourself to be a child again. Take time to really enjoy your big Florida vacation and realize that this vacation is also for your pleasure. Everything does not have to be perfect this time, just fun!

10)Strongly consider renting a Florida house near the parks instead of crowding yourself and your loved ones into a hotel room. Many Florida vacation houses offer the comfort of a full-kitchen, a backyard pool and a room for every child for the price of a hotel room.

For a comfortable four bedrooms, full kitchen and private screened backyard pool, go to http://www.bigfloridavacation.com now. Reservations are made upon availability. Hurry - great dates are going fast!

    Fun and Sun in Florida

    Fun and Sun in Florida
    By Marsha Maung

Florida is not known as the land of fun and sun in the United States for nothing. With sunshine all year round, its easy to see why tourists and holiday-goers make it to go to Florida often. Florida is a fabulous place to go to with the whole family imagine basking in the sun-kissed beaches and lazing around in an outdoor environment that is never ending. Convinced yet? Ok, since holiday season is creeping up around the corner, nows the time to hire a charter bus so that you can pay the city of fun and sun a visit.

The great thing about visiting Florida via a charter bus is that you can vary your activities according to each of your own preferences. For instance, for those who prefer to relax under the sun, listen to the sound of waves, slashing around in the waters and building sand castles all day, Florida is your place. As winter rolls around, it makes perfect sense to charter a bus so that you can stay away from the chills.

For lake and beach people, get your charter bus to take you to a place called Lakeland. Lakeland, conveniently nestles somewhere between Tampa and Orlanda. There used to be numerous historical architecture and buildings and although some has been torn down, most of them are still within the Florida Southern College area. And once youre done with Lakeland (or perhaps the next day since we suspect that you might want to spend the whole languid day there), take the charter bus to a place called Hollis Gardens. Hollis Gardens is a truly magnificent place where it the horticultural history is chronicled there. For the kids, as soon as they step off the city charter bus, they can head on to Exploration V Childrens Museum. Theyll love it there while the guys can make their way to Florida Air Museum Sun n Fun where everythings about aircrafts and flying metals. And if any one of you feels like having even more fun, tell the charter bus guy that youre want to learn how to race.

There really is an endless number of things to do in Florida and if you dont take a charter bus there, youre going to have some trouble enjoying everything that Florida has to offer. Theres the fishing, the art galleries, the golf, the night life and the entertainment centers. Florida, as the charter bus driver can tell you, is always full of life. Everyone works hard but they party hard and have loads of fun. Thats why Florida makes an amazing holiday destination.

    Florida Isn't Just For Tourists

    Florida Isn't Just For Tourists
    By Alex Goumakos

No matter what your interests, you will find something in Florida to enjoy. Whether you like mouse ears and theme parks, the warm, sunny beaches or the exotic wildlife, Florida attractions are hard to beat. With an increasingly friendly business environment, Florida is also a great place to do business!

When most people think of Florida they think of sunshine, palm trees and fabulous winter vacations. What most people don't realize is that Florida is also a great place to incorporate. If you own your own business or are considering starting one, you owe it to yourself to discover the benefits of a Florida corporation.

For starters, there is no personal income tax in the State of Florida. While regular corporations are subject to a 5.5% tax on federal taxable income over $5,000, if you incorporate your Florida business and elect S status you can have your cake and eat it too! Florida S corporations are NOT taxable entities and are therefore not required to file state income tax returns (except for the first year). The result is this: you can have the benefits of a corporation, and pay no tax! But there's more:

Unlike most states, Florida does not have any minimum capital requirements. So if you are just starting out and don't have a lot of money, you can still take full advantage of incorporating without having to put a lot of cash into your company. Some states require you to fund your corporation with at least $1,000 in capital. Not so in Florida.

Another good thing about incorporating in Florida is that it's easy to do and you don't have to involve a lot of different people. For example, while many states require you to have more than one director and a different person for each corporate officer, in Florida the Director, President, Secretary and Treasurer can all be the SAME person! This makes it easy for smaller businesses that want the benefits of a corporation without all the hassle.

Florida is increasingly becoming a business friendly state. It already has some of the lowest annual fees and corporate reporting requirements in the country. But here's some even better news: The shareholders, directors and officers of a Florida corporation can remain anonymous if they so choose!

The Secretary of State of Florida does not require the names or addresses of shareholders, directors or officers to be listed in the articles of incorporation. Since the State does not keep a record of who owns or controls the corporation, you can conduct business in Florida with complete PRIVACY.

One of the first decisions a business owner must make after deciding to incorporate is selecting the proper state of incorporation. While there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer or standard, some states are better to incorporate in than others. Florida happens to be one of the better choices.

However, what's right for some isn't necessarily what's right for everybody. If you are considering incorporating your business, then you owe it to yourself to examine all of the choices. Before making any legal or financial decision, always consult with an experienced and competent professional who knows you and your unique circumstances.

And be sure to mention Florida as one of the possible choices. Remember, Florida isn't only for tourists: It's for corporations too!

    Key West Florida

    Key West Florida
    By Thomas Morva

Key West is a part of the Lower Keys and is known as the southernmost city in Florida. More commonly known as the Conch Republic, it is a seaport and a favorite tourist destination too. The climatic conditions are mild and resemble the Caribbean islands, making the island an automatic choice for vacations.

There is huge gay and lesbian population, mainly due to the eccentric or easygoing attitude of the people here.

    Places You Will Enjoy

The island is a host to beaches, parks, and resorts. The list of attractions runs long. Starting from the Ernest Hemingway museum, there are a lot of places to visit. You can also take the ghost tour. You can hardly miss any place, as the island is a small one.

Coming to the beaches, you can choose a busy one like Smathers beach, which provides water sports and volleyball games facilities. There are beautiful gardens, ball fields and tennis courts.

Fishing and kayaking are good activities for more adventureloving people. For those who love the arts, there are movie theatres the Tennessee Williams, which stages live performances of dance, concerts and plays and movies. You can choose trolley or train tours. There are several ancient buildings, which have been renovated and remodeled, like the Mansion Inn, Donkey Milk House Museum, Casa Antigua, Audubon House and Gardens, Robert Frost Cottage, Hemingway House and more.

There are also historical buildings, like the Old City Hall and Wreckers Museum, Old Customs House, Shipwreck Historeum and more.

There are a lot of other pastimes too. There is a golf course a public 200-acre 18-hole course, located amidst beautiful scenery. The Key West Aquarium was built in 1935 and claimed to be the worlds first open-air aquarium.

There are industries that manufacture cigars, fabrics and aloe products.

    Events to Cherish

To add more color, there are plenty of events scheduled throughout the year and more so in the peak season of January June. The prominent among the celebrations is the Fantasy Fest a weeklong party. Every day the sunset celebration is held at the Mallory Dock, with live performances done by the street artists, jugglers, musicians and all others gathered there.

A trip to the Florida Keys will be complete only if you visit Key West. Even though it is a tiny island, it holds most of the history behind the Keys. The principle adopted by the people here is unity in diversity, which is clearly seen when you walk down, for example, Duval Street. Here, the cultural influence of the neighboring areas is clearly seen.

True to its history of being the second oldest city in the Florida Keys, Key West abounds in natural beauty and historical monuments too.
